Hull Shape Fairing
Quality through quantity
Whether a fast and slim sailing yacht, traditional fishing boat, container ship, cruise liner or complex shaped architectural object, Centraalstaal can fair any shape into an exact surface model including the details that you require and to every desired level of production quality.
Hull shapes are faired with great precision and checks are made on the shape at every building frame and corner of the surface. Lines are kept as close to the design surface as possible and surfaces are trimmed off to the exact shape. Details that we can add are:
- Thickness of stern and stern bar
- Intersections of hull with stem or stern
- Fitting of pipes in the hull (inland craft, for example)
- Roundings
- Anchor pockets
- Bowthrusters
- Propeller thrusters
- Rudder domes
- Tunnels
- Bulwark of ship
The end result is an exactly faired hull shape, suitable for the production of accurate shaped construction parts. We deliver a variety of 2D and 3D output formats, suitable for using in your specific CAD/CAM system. The finished hull shape surface model can also be delivered ready for use with the NUPAS-CADMATIC 3D engineering software. We accept any kind of data to start from, varying from a simple table of offsets, DXF files, IGES files, to Rhino models or NAPA database.
SHELL PLATE SERVICES
Partnering with your designers, our fairing and shell specialists model the ship’s shape, superstructure or any other shaped object in detail in order to deliver the most accurate information for the optimal production of complex formed plates.
Shell plates are calculated with our in-house developed NUPAS-CADMATIC shell plate software. Double curved plates are calculated in a flat pattern including elongation due to the double curvature. Shell plates are in principle developed without extra length (green), including edge preparation data, (construction) marking lines, bending templates and elongation information for cold forming. The combination of this advanced production data ensures a high quality and exact fit.
The plate bending (elongation) information is delivered in tabular form and shell plate and template geometries are delivered in DXF format, ready for part nesting and cutting. The production data is delivered in digital format and can also include:
- 3D shell expansion and 2D shell view drawings
- Plate weight, cog, size, max. sagging & torsion, material etc.
- Marking and reference lines on the plates
- Construction lines on the plates
- Plate edge bevels
- Templates in tabular form and/or template production sketches
- Pin Jigs (graphics plot and table of offsets)
Accurate production information is supplied for forming the matching shell plates for commonly used materials such as steel, stainless steel and aluminium or combinations thereof.
